 The main objective of the Department of International Cooperation is assistance to the strengthening and further development of the leading position of al-Farabi Kazakh National University as a modern higher education institution of global level.

One of the key directions of interuniversity collaboration is ultimate assistance to the development of academic partnership with foreign universities, in the framework of which international educational and scientific projects are being realized.

Today al-Farabi KazNU has established partnership relations with more than 400 largest universities, various international organizations (UNESCO, CRDF, NATO, InWEnt, IAEA etc.) and foreign scientific funds. Also the university participates in TEMPUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS educational programs within the frameworks of the European Commission, in the Inspire program under the British Council etc.

The strategic objectives of the university international activities:

  1. Achievement of international quality standardsin the field of research and training programs;
  2. Harmonization of KazNU's curricula with the curricula of the leading universities around the world on relevant educational programs;
  3. Increasing mobility of students and faculty in the international education process;
  4. Introduction and implementation of joint degrees programs as an important means of improving the competitiveness of the KazNU in the educational services market;
  5. Development of international scientific activities of the University, improving the quality and extent of participation in international KazNU scientific, technical and innovative programs and projects;
  6. Increasing the international prestige of KazNU, also through participation in international rankings and accreditations of educational programs and the institutionalization of the university in the leading international agencies;
  7. The development of language skills of the faculty, staff, students;
  8. Ensuring of the growing contribution of international activity in the financial sustainability of the university.
