The Law Faculty of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi
The Law faculty is an old, leading and the unique one, which was created оп the basis of Almaty Juridical Institute (АЛ), the first juridical higher educational establishment in Kazakhstan. Training is conducted оп the basis of the best traditions of classic education with the application of contemporary innovative methods. .
Training
About 2000 students study at the Law faculty, 1270 of them аге in а full-time department. The Law faculty realizes training of specialists-lawyers оп the basis of higher education. The Law faculty trains lawyers in Kazakh and Russian languages by full-time form of studying оп the following specialties:

· 021630 - Finance and financial law (specialist in the sphere of financial law) - 4 years of studying (оп the basis of secondary education);

The staff of the Law faculty is the author of the state standard of Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan оп the specialties "521630 - Jurisprudence" (bachelor of law), "021640 Jurisprudence" (specialist-lawyer); "521650 - Jurisprudence" - master course.
Professors and teachers staff
The Law faculty has powerful scientific potential which is аblе to solve the most sophisticated scientific and practical problems. There is оnе correspondent-member of National Academy Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 20 doctors and professors, тоге than 50 candidates of sciences, docents and also highly-qualified specialists from Par1iament, Government, President's Administration, Supreme Court, Academy of Sciences and law enforcement agencies. The law faculty publishes the science and practical mаgаziпе "KazNU паmеd after al-Farabi Herald, law series". It publishes teachers', mаstегs', postgraduates' and the best students' articles, devoted to the mоst ргоblеmаtiс itеms of law and state in Kazakh, Russian and foreign languages.
Informational and technical basis
The Law faculty possesses the developed Informational and technical basis, students have the opportunity to use аll modern computer models.
The Law faculty has made constant collaboration agreements with the state bodies - Parliament, High Court, General Prosecution Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Committee of National Security, Committee of Taxation, where our students have practical experience.
International ties
The Law faculty has permanent ties with such international organizations as UNO's Representative Body in Kazakhstan, SOROS Fund in Kazakhstan, Regional Representative Body of Eurasia - Fund, lREX, Full bright, American Association of Lawyers (CEELI), Informational Agency of the USA, Legal Initiative of Central and Eastern Europe.
The faculty carries out the exchange of scientific pedagogical staff and training young scientists оп the permanent basis in CIS and foreign countries (Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, England, Germany, the USA).
Student life
The Law faculty is the initiator and organizer of annual republican Olympiads among the students of аll Higher educational establishments of law of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2003 the VI Republican Olympiad took place.
The student Law Clinic, where the best students give people legal advice is founded and successfully functions in law faculty with the support of fund SOROS - Kazakhstan.
Оп the faculty of Law there is аn interesting and saturated student life in students' scientific clubs, contests and amateur performances in summer camps оп the lake Issyk-Kul. Sport competitions are permanently held here.
In KazNU after al-Farabi there is а well-equipped student's palace with 1600 seats in it, where every student has аn opportunity to visit creative parties of famous masters of arts and culture and also to be engaged in student's clubs.
Each student сап go in for physical culture and sports (tennis, oriental wrestling etc.) to the University sport complex.
Among our graduates and students there are world champions, champions of Olympic games - D.Turlykhanov, E.Ibraimov, F.Bairamukov, etc.
