Office of Professional Development and Career in Al-Farabi KazNU designed as a structural unit of the staff in May 2011.

The purpose of the Center - the formation of personnel potential competitive specialists corresponding to modern requirements and intellectual development strategy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, meeting the world standards.

The objectives are the formation of modern subsystems demand specialists, attraction of employers to conduct master classes, workshops and presentations for students and university graduates, to develop a system, to promote employment and adaptation graduates of the KazNU to the labor market and the development of educational programs together with employers.

The Centre's activities focused on the implementation of continuous training concept, optimization work on the development and strengthening of KazNU relations with the enterprises and organizations. The center acts as a link between businesses, profiling departments, alumni and the university administration.

Competitive specialist - KazNU graduate - must possess not only theoretical knowledge in their field, but also additional competencies for a successful career.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has established close contacts with the largest companies, which focus on the world market and impose appropriate requirements for the level of training. As a result of purposeful events, the percentage of employed graduates of the KazNU exceeds 90%.

The activities of this Center contributes to the expansion of bases practices of students and their further employment. The Center conducts training workshops, "open days" of employers, leadership lectures of famous people and graduates held Treasury.

Also, the Center together with partners-employers annually represents practices bases and student internships, workshops and webinars. During the last 3 years, the Center hosts a variety of themed marketing seminars and trainings on the current state and the main directions of Kazakhstan labor market development.

On the basis of realization of the State Program of Education Development in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2011-2020 in the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Career and the business center has developed a new concept of continuous practical training of students.

In order to strengthen interaction between the University and employers, since March 2010 operates Employers Council, which includes a number of large companies and organizations. Through the activities of the Employers Council, companies involved in the development and review of working curricula and programs of educational disciplines in all specialties.

To participate in the employment of graduates companies and employers, Center holds the Job/Internship Fair each year. Every year at the fair are actively involved over 100 leading local and international companies and organizations that are engaged on a temporary and permanent employment of young specialists. Job/Internship Fair is visited annually by 5-6 thousand students. More than half of the students receive an offer to be interviewed in the company. As part of the Job fair, workshops and seminars are held, where graduates are taking for themselves the information on employment and social and legal protection of graduates in the framework of anti-crisis measures, developed by the state. Since 2014, Job/Internship Fair held in the new international format, with the involvement of foreign investors and other employers.
