The chair of language and general educational preparation of foreigners of the Kazakh national university of al-Farabi invites to take part in the Interuniversity festival of pedagogical ideas «Diagnostics of technologies in teaching of languages» which will take place on February 15, 2012.
Within a festival carrying out a methodical seminar, a round table, master classes of leading teachers TREASURY and other higher education institutions of the city of Almaty devoted to actual problems and the latest tendencies of training to Russian and Kazakh languages as by foreign in higher education institutions is planned; to questions of integration of Kazakhstan in the European system of the description of levels of foreign language skills and testing system; to training problems to aspects of language and types of speech activity.
During discussions it is supposed to discuss the following problems:
1. The main difficulties arising at training of foreigners to Russian and Kazakh phonetics, grammar and lexicon at initial and average stages.
2. Typology of mistakes of the young teacher of Russian and Kazakh languages as foreign and ways of their correction.
3. Problems of language and sociocultural adaptation of foreign students in the Kazakhstan higher education institutions.

There was a regular meeting on February 4th, 2012 of scientific and practical Seminar of the Department “Energy and ecology” of Geography and Natural managment faculty on the topic "The Role of Renewable energy in the industrialization of the economy". The seminar addressed representative of the Board of Directors Committee on Renewable energy "Kazakhstan Electricity Association (KEA) Pazylhairova Gulbanu Tazhibaevna. In her report she noted environmental and energy problems of the country, and also spoke about need to develop in new and innovative Kazakhstan sources of energy. The seminar took an active part Director of Technopark Al-Farabi KazNU Boguspaev KK, teachers of departmnet, students and graduate students. At the Kazakh national university of al-Farabi the 42nd International scientific and methodical conference «Innovations in educational activity and questions of improvement of quality of training» which was devoted to innovative methods of training in educational process and to problems of improvement of quality of education on January 27-28, 2012 took place.
Within plenary session academician Mutanov Galimkair Mutanovich and the professor of Open university of Great Britain Benjamin Mestel (as Benjamin Mestel, The Open University, Department Mathematics And Statistics, Senior Lecturer in Mathematics), and also the professor of the Colombian university Rafis Abazov (Rafis Abazov, Columbia University, Earth Institute, Director of Global Classroom project) acted the rector TREASURY of al-Farabi, the professor of university Tsukuba Lesley Tkach-Kavasaki (Leslie Tkach-Kawasaki, University of Tsukuba, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor) acted online in a format of digital Workshop “Case Study”.
The Methodological Bureau of The Faculty of international relations jointly with The Institute of Raising the level of teacher’s skills held the 2nd seminar for the teachers of English on the following topics “Some effective approaches to motivate students in learning English” and “Some effective ways of teaching grammar”.The seminar took place on the 18th and 19th of January , 2012.
A mobile learning test of students taking part in pilot project was conducted at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University from November 28 to December 2 2011. One hundred students of Humanity Studies in our university has learnt the first basic course of American English, and 95 of them have been tested.
Students at different language levels say that preliminary results show their language skills improvement in pronunciation and hearing native speaker’s speech. It thanks to unlimited experience of hearing and recording their own voice several times, in addition it doesn’t require large equipment like a PC or a notebook.
Teachers emphasize students’ high motivation and positive attitudes to the project. They have noticed that students are very happy when realize their ability to recognize familiar phrases and words in English films and songs.
The pilot project is based on complementation of innovative mobile learning method of any target language. Mobile phones used for language learning have a special installed software. This method has been developed by Swedish company “So To Speak”. The representatives of this company are the author Karl Hofso and his technical assistant Fouad Jazzar have been invited for Evaluation. The foreign language chair can use the testing “inherited” program for the next time.
Official sponsor of this pilot project is “Nokia-Kazakhstan”. It has provided 100 mobile phones for students and 10 – for teachers.
