INTERNATIONAL HINDI DAY

International Hindi Day was celebrated at the Oriental Studies Department, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on 27th September 2011.

Visitors of the celebration:

1. Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India in Kazakhstan.

2. Mr. Vinod Kumar, Director of the Indian Cultural centre under the Embassy of the Republic of India.

3. Mr. Rakesh Kumar Verma, Consul General of the Republic of India in Almaty.

Dr. Dzhubatova B.N., Dean, Oriental Studies Department, thanked Mr. Ambassador A. Sharma for friendly relations and active participation in contacts between our countries.

In his reciprocal address, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India in Kazakhstan Mr. A. Sharma expressed his deep satisfaction with the development of the relations between Kazakhstan and India in the sphere of higher education and science and thanked for the appreciation of his activities. He underlined that the Embassy is always ready to co-operate with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and highly praised the teaching standards of Indian Studies at the Department.

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Government of India annually allocate over 20 studentships for Kazakhstani students at best high schools of India. 3 our students study at the University of Delhi this academic year. 5 students returned this summer upon 1-year study.

As a gift on behalf of the Indian Embassy, fiction, educational and informative literature in Hindi and English has been presented to the Indian Studies branch.

Students of the Indian Studies prepared a cultural program including songs and verses in Hindi and Indian dances.
